A Customized Approach

Every treatment program is customized specifically for each patient by appropriate members of the Multidisciplinary Team. The team consists of staff trained in orthopaedic and sports medicine, neuropsychology, psychology, physiotherapy, chiropractic, occupational therapy, massage, kinesiology, driving therapy, occupational health nursing and certified athletic therapy. There are several treatment programs that target the specific needs of various patient populations.

On your first visit to the clinic, you will be assessed by either a Medical Doctor, a Registered Physiotherapist or a Chiropractor. Please ensure that the front desk staff has your most recent OHIP number and version code, home address, home and business telephone numbers, and extended health care benefit policy number. The health Practitioner who completes your Intake Assessment will determine which of our therapy programs best suits your individual needs.

Treatments

Kinetex offers a full range of rehabilitation and assessment services.

Direct Funded Therapy
If appropriate, you may be recommended to undergo therapeutic intervention under the direction of the Medical Doctor. A Certified Kinesiologist or Certified Athletic Therapist will carry out your treatments. Treatment may include active exercise therapy, therapeutic modality application and education. The cost of this therapy is not covered under OHIP. In many situations the therapist will be required to utilize manual therapeutic intervention during the course of a treatment plan. This service is provided at a cost of $20 per treatment.
Physiotherapy
Treatment is prescribed and supervised by Registered Physiotherapists with specialties in the McKenzie approach to mechanical spinal pain, manual therapy, acupuncture and muscle energy techniques. Patients are encouraged to take an active role in their therapy with the prescription of Home Exercise Programs. The application of therapeutic modalities is also used when indicated. The cost for this service is covered under most Extended Health Benefit Plans. The cost of the initial assessment and treatment is $70 and subsequent treatments are $45.
Chiropractic
Chiropractic patients are treated on a walk-in or referral basis. Treatment methods include diversified technique, drop technique, activator and flexion distraction therapy. The cost of services may be covered by Extended Health Plans. Initial consultations are $80, subsequent visit fees vary depending on your age. For further information please inquire at the front desk.
Massage Therapy
Treatment is provided by a Registered Massage Therapist on a walk in or referral basis. The therapeutic use of massage affects all systems of the body, most particularly circulatory (blood and lymph), muscular, fascial and nervous systems. Massage therapy is also effective in the control of pain (chronic or acute) and in stress reduction. The cost for the initial assessment and treatment is $70 and subsequent treatments are $50.
Functional Restoration Program -- Work Hardening Program
If your injuries are the result of a recent motor vehicle accident, you may be referred for a Multidisciplinary Assessment with a Medical Director, Physiotherapist, Chiropractor and Kinesiologist. This comprehensive assessment will determine your specific areas of limitation and address these limitations through a goal-directed rehabilitation program.
Work-Related Injuries
If your injuries are the result of an accident at work, you may be referred by your employer for assessment and treatment by the Kinetex Multidisciplinary Team. If a Workers' Compensation Claim has been filed, treatment will be carried out by a Therapist under the direct supervision of a Medical Doctor, Registered Physiotherapist, or Chiropractor.
Group Classes
There are group exercise and education classes tailored specially for patients with muskuloskeletal problems or osteoporosis. The classes are instructed by Certified Athletic Therapists and run several times a week. The cost of participation in the classes is $15 per 1 hour class.
